I am trying to fuse a Branch in a Ficus Nuda. I have made a deep nick in the main trunk & have placed the branch and tied it with a cloth . Will this work or should I use some chemical to facilitate the fusing .
Please provide your Suggestions asap

  1. Hi Satya,
Actually a deep cut is not needed. Now that you have made one, its ok. But make an identical cut on the branch you are attaching.Just remove the bark.Tie them together tightly with a cord. Then wind rice tape around the area of fusion. This is to prevent air and water from entering the fusion area.Leave it undisturbed for a month. No chemicals needed.

  2. Presume the branch is a part of another growing plant. If so, another method is to bind them together, after removal of the bark, with a strip of old cycle tube. Being flexible, this easily allows the branch to grow, with out making any mark on the stem.
