Bodhi Bonsai Monthly Meeting – Saturday, March 9, 2013

Theme for hands-on-workshop is 'Mame' this month.  Members are requested to bring suitable plants and containers to practice.  Suseela has agreed to conduct the demo.  Notes on 'Mame' is also posted for the members' benefit.

Venue:  Spaces , 1 Elliot Beach Road, Besant Nagar, Chennai.

Time:  2 30 – 430 pm.

We are holding our meeting this month at SPACES a new location in South Chennai .



SPACES , 1 Elliots Beach Road , Beasant Nagar , Chennai 600091 is a sprawling tree-filled sanctuary for the performing arts in Chennai. Situated on the seaside at Eliots Beach it can be reached from 5th Avenue Besant Nagar . The entrance gate is on the Beach Road. If you are coming on the Besant Avenue road from the Fortis Malar Hospital please take the first left before the Rajaji Bhavan (Railways reservation office) on to 5th Avenue and drive down to the Beach Road .

Please do ask your south chennai friends to attend this meeting and benefit from the various hands on Demos that our members will be doing.

2.30 Pm - 4 PM - Hands on sessions by members who have brought plants for styling , repotting etc



Please bring you plants , potting material and Pots that are required . Senior members will help all members doing hands-on with their plants

ABOUT NOVEMBER 10 MONTHLY MEETING

Members who were absent in the last monthly meeting, missed something great!

We saw a ‘Raft style’ (Ikadabuki) using Casuarina,  for the first time,  in a monthly meeting.   Besides, Dr Yogesh demonstrated 2 more inspiring items:

An upright style using Jade  &

Semi Cascade style on a kind of cherry tree.

 

Sensei Akira Hatayama's intricate and fine wiring on Casuarina showed a good Weeping style.

He also explained how to convert kitchen waste into organic manure in a short period.

Sensei Hatayama methodically practices this method to make organic manure on a regular basis.

He uses only this manure for his Bonsai plants.

 

Experts from the group found time to assist the members to shape and style all the plants brought by them.

Cancellation of ‘Special Bonsai Workshop’

Regret to advise that we have to cancel the ‘Special Bonsai Workshop’ scheduled for November 9, 2012 due to the indisposition of  Mr M Ponnuswamy.  We wish a speedy recovery to our dear Patron.

Instead we shall meet on  SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2012  at 2 30 pm  at  Children’s Green Park,  (Opposite Grand Sweet),  Spurtank Road,  Chetpet,  Chennai  for the regular monthly meeting.

Dr Yogesh will conduct an interesting demonstration.  New members, a warm welcome to you all and be present.

Please bring your Bonsai plants for styling ; remember to bring your tools as well.

Guests are welcome!  Guest Fee is Rs 100/- per person.

If repotting is required, please bring potting mixture and suitable container.

Also the wiring material and your tools.
